Ming 20.01 Series 3: Cutting-Edge Innovation

The Ming 20.01 Series 3 represents the pinnacle of the brand's innovative prowess, marking a continuation of their commitment to introducing groundbreaking technology through their Special Projects Cave. This exclusive timepiece, limited to just 20 pieces, sets a new benchmark in horology with its revolutionary design and technical mastery. It is believed to be the first watch in the world to feature a dial crafted from fused borosilicate glass, all powered by the renowned AgenGraphe movement, courtesy of Agenhor.

At the heart of this watch lies the interplay of light and space. The dial’s signature feature is its array of 600 precisely engineered voids, arranged in a radially symmetric circular pattern. These voids vary not only in diameter but also in depth, creating a three-dimensional wave effect visible when viewed at an angle. This intricate design is the result of a unique collaboration with Femtoprint SA, who used cutting-edge laser technology to carve these complex voids into layers of fused borosilicate glass. Traditional machining methods would have struggled to achieve such precision, especially given the sharp contours of each void.

The visual allure of the 20.01 Series 3 doesn’t stop there. These voids glow brilliantly thanks to the meticulous process of hand-filling each one with Super-LumiNova X1 using syringes. The result is a mesmerizing luminescence that casts a glowing veil across the dial, offering glimpses of the movement beneath. Additionally, lume fills the indices and secondary scales on the underside of the top crystal, enhancing visibility and contributing to the watch’s ethereal charm. Each dial is made to order, reflecting the painstaking craftsmanship involved in its creation.

Powering the Ming 20.01 Series 3 is the exceptional AgenGraphe movement by Agenhor, widely regarded as one of the most advanced chronograph calibers on the market. The movement boasts an array of sophisticated features, including a central chronograph mechanism, proprietary backlash-free gears, an innovative horizontal clutch, instantaneous jumping minute counters, and a specialized regulation system. Ming has customized the movement for this model with a manual winding configuration and adorned it with 5N rose gold-coated bridges and plates, along with polished anglage. The addition of a hard winding stop adds a tactile element, ensuring the wearer knows when the mainspring is fully wound.

Housed in a meticulously crafted 18k 5N rose gold case, the 20.01 Series 3 exudes a sense of luxury and refinement. The bezel, flying blade lugs, caseback, chronograph pushers, and crown are all rendered in rose gold, contrasted by a DLC-coated titanium core. This complex, interlocking case design, carried over from previous 20-series models, measures 41.5mm in diameter and 14.2mm thick, providing both substantial wrist presence and comfort, even on smaller wrists, thanks to its short lugs and variety of finishes.

The watch is completed with an anthracite goat leather strap, lined with alcantara, and secured by a matching 5N rose gold buckle, crafted by Jean Rousseau Paris. To further enhance the ownership experience, Ming includes one year of WAX Shield insurance coverage against theft and a complimentary service within the first five years, alongside the standard two-year warranty.

In the Ming 20.01 Series 3, the brand has masterfully blended artistry, technology, and craftsmanship to create a watch that is both visually stunning and mechanically groundbreaking. With only 20 pieces available, this timepiece is a testament to the brand’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of horology.
